To Steven: "In my bedroom in those ugly new houses, I danced my legs down to the knees."

I don't even know what to say about Steven Patrick Morrissey. I had never been obsessed with any celebrity. I thought the whole idea was stupid... to idolize one person. And then I found Morrissey. This man is hands down the most poignant and emotional lyricist to have ever walked the earth. Combine that with the musical genius he's worked with over the years, and you have what can only be called aural ecstasy. Morrissey started out in the most influential British band of the 1980's: The Smiths. Beautiful melodies were supplied by the extremely talented guitarist Johnny Marr. Upon them, Morrissey laid his clever, arrogant, and lamenting poetry ultimately resulting in the bulk of what I listen to daily.

After the Smiths broke up in 1987, Moz immediately went solo and began working with living rockabilly legends Boz Boorer and Alain Whyte. With them, Morrissey's voice continued to pull heart strings world wide. Long story short, I regard Morrissey to be an artistic and poetic genius if ever there was one, one of my heroes, and the only man I'd kiss without thinking twice.

I love this man enough to have found all of the best resources on the web dedicated to him. Below, you can find all you ever wanted to know about Morrissey and much, much more:

  • Morrissey-Solo - This is by far the best source of information on Morrissey past and present. Not only does it have all the latest news on our hero, but you can meet other fans as well as find a ton of links to other Morrissey sites. This is the place to go.

  • Passions Just Like Mine - This is the most complete discography I've ever seen, and I thank my lucky stars every morning that it is dedicated to Morrissey. I don't know how to describe it. It is insanely detailed. It is with the checklists on this site that I was able to compile a COMPLETE collection of at least one copy of every commercially released song by the Smiths or Morrissey. Every live version and alternate take. I obsessively tracked down every last one.

  • It May All End Tomorrow - Again, we are blessed with a higly-detailed site. This one is a complete library of all Morrissey and Smiths lyrics from all versions of all songs including live and rare tracks. Come here for sweet poetic inspiration.

  • Wikipedia - This is a fine place to get a lesson on many things, Moz included. History, random facts, and links galore.

  • Morrissey and The Smiths on AllMusic - Check these links out for an overview of the named careers as well as a basic discography and some interesting musical "connections."

Here are some of my favorite pictures of the man himself. Note that this first one is actually a little mural I did myself a while back. It's a tribute to Morrissey in a sort of Vernon Wells style. (Kudos to you if you know who Vernon Wells is.) Yes, folks. I'm multi-talented.

One final treat for those of you new to the worship of Moz. Of course it isn't as extensive as it could be, but the discography below covers all of the major releases both from the Smiths and from Morrissey on his own. Click on an album cover to get a summary and track list!
